Even though U.S. courts don’t have authority above your trust, they have an authority above you as an U.S. resident. Which means that if the court has found you guilty is any case and ordered you to make disposition for Cook Island trust to cover that decision, you will have to obey. Otherwise you will be detained.
Famous example: Lawrence v. Goldberg (In re Lawrence), 279 F.3d 1294, 15 Fla. L. Weekly Fed. C 243 (11th Cir. Fla. Jan. 23, 2002)

I highly recommend a Cook Islands Trust if you have over $1M in assets. The US has only 4% of the world’s population but 20% of its litigation. A CIT can cost up to $50k to establish and $3k in annual fees to maintain. So far, they’ve proven to be bullet proof against ludicrous lawsuit judgements that can bankrupt a person of their entire life’s wealth accumulation. Until the US has legit tort reform, it’s the ultimate insurance policy.
