Is Tulum overpriced?
I would recommend NOT flying into tulum airport for the next 3 months unless completely necessary for your travels due to the newness. There is no WiFi, no restaurants that even look CLOSE to being open, and no lounge.
For the restaurants, make reservations early and allow plenty of time for traffic. Busiest times in the restaurants are 630-9pm.
If using a taxi, agree on the price BEFORE they start driving. Most drivers speak little-no English, so having easy/quick access to google translate will be your friend. There is no Uber or app based rideshare service!!!
Our hotel was the Conrad. It was big, beautiful, and quiet but it is 25 minutes from downtown tulum and the hotel zone. If you like to be in the mix and close to all of the bars/hotels, you might want to stay at another hotel.

I go to Tulum about 3 times per year. I stay at an Airbnb outside of the hotel zone because I like AC and bug free. I rent a car because it’s cheaper than a taxi. Don’t eat in the hotel zone eat on the local strip… Rosa Negra will have the best food within the zone.
Yea Tulum use to be cheap and nice before the pandemic. I’ve been twice since the pandemic and the prices have totally increased and it’s not worth anymore. Mexico use to be cheap and was a close trip
I love Tulum and always have a great experience there!! Bout to go back.
Tulum is much cheaper if you want to go to upscale restaurants it’s that price… But if you go the culture Tulum restaurants and clubs it’s dead ass cheap
San Juan airport was the same .. absolutely nothing in it .. but the duty free was fully stocked and open for business
Loved Tulum with a private chef the restaurants were pricey and not good although ambiance was on point for sure. Will do a chef again but I will also just stop at Walmart en route from Cancun. We know how to chef up goodness lol someone else can clean up…
Be aware of the app taxis...they don't carry insurance.
Rent a car my guy
You did tulum wrong girl
Baltimore? Seafood?

Just dropped a great guide to Tulum! 🌴✨ Check it out and start planning your trip!
Fantastic
Excessive tourism killed Tulum and all the Riviera Maya. An american flag at a club? 500 usd for very mediocre food? Beach clubs only for foreigners? Etc, etc…Paradise Lost.
Suck it up buttercup!
