Ok …. now let’s talk about the hardware generation tool here…
Sometimes I feel like I’m out here solving problems only I knew we been having this whole time. But holy mother of poly plastics I’ve needed this for a while. Because nothing has brought a quicker and more frequent halt to my cad modeling flow of 3D printing assemblies more than the existing methods for finding and importing the right screws and bolts into my workspace.
And not only the existing methods flow destroying they were also usually optimized for subtractive manufacturing and metal parts. Which is a very different thing. So I finally made a procedural tool (in Blender Geometry Nodes duh) thats a dream to use and is specifically tested and developed for 3D printable plastic applications. And is standard across a stupid big range of length and diameters! So I can always depend on compatibility across my hundreds of different designs.
Which is extremely useful. And is coming reaaal handy for the project I’m working on now that needs to be assembled without any tools at all. Which I’m excited to share soon.
