At the end of the last ice age, sea levels rose by 450 feet over 9,000 years. That's an average of 5 feet per century. During one 140 year period, it rose 22 feet, which would have been so catastrophic for many costal settlements. So it's not surprising we have these flood myths from many different civilisations.

This just proves that these cultures were more interconnected than we thought and so shared similar myths.
I suspect the great flood was really an actual catastrophic global event that occurred.
Gosh it's almost like flooding isn't that rare so loads of cultures have flood myths. Oh imagine if RAINbows where normally associated with rain because they occur after rainfall or during light rainfall which usually occurs near the end of heavy rainfall.
