Weeeell.. aside from a look if you order a cappuccino with your meal (which isn’t a big deal anyway, who cares about blending in with absolute strangers?) and yeah dressing like a diva on a hike or something, this is a bunch of bs stereotyping. We say buongiorno all of the time, it doesn’t make you stand out in anyway. Sure, giorno and salve are absolutely fine too. Salve is great all day long so my favorite greeting.
No one fears air conditioning, most people just find a bit annoying sitting right under one, but in the south they’re not only very present in all public places, but definitely appreciated. We live in 2023 too, not in 1953 still.
And for the love of god, enjoy your stay dressing or sipping or eating whatever you want and feel comfortable choosing, we don’t really mind that much.
Rules for your stay? Be polite, don’t expect lines to be respected at village sagre, and in restaurants don’t ask for crazy modifications, cooks and waiters are overworked and underpaid enough please 😂❤️

She’s not Italian. She’s American with Italian ancestors, and seemingly doesn’t live in Italy. I’m also American with Italian ancestors. I’ve travelled there extensively to see family and be a tourist in a country I def feel connected to, but I’m not Italian. The ones that came over (my grandparents) are Italian american. We’re just Americans trying to relate to our heritage so take her advice accordingly. Also, Italians wear floral dresses… really the only accurate posting is re latte. It is milk. The rest is old school thinking. #marche
