YES! I had a manager do that to me! A couple ordered food, and after 15 minutes, they were gone. They didn't even wait for their food, didn't pay for their drinks, and the manager looked at me. "What did you do?", TF, I took their order. My apologies, I should've known better. And I had to pay $80 out of my tips!

They know that. You fail to realize what happens is that they will either make the server pay for it or will basically make the servers life a living hell.

Reason y I never tried to stop one cause it has nothing to do with me. I told my manager plenty of times to pay me more or hire security 😂

Fuck you landshark Margaritaville if I could prove it from 2020 I’d sue your ass
@el_boberto2023-09-10
is this a federal law? if not, does anyone know specifics on this for texas?

Just take a write up. I've only had like 3 walkouts in the past 15 years and never been threatening over them but have noticed managers try to intimidate younger less experienced servers. I always stand up for them.

The amount of bootlicking and brain-dead folks justifying greedy managers screwing over employees is asinine.

Worked in food industry most of my life and never heard a manager or owner say that. Only in tv or movies.
@darthus_raccoonus_2023-09-08
What if they still take it from me? What do I do afterwards?

I used to work at the Cheesecake Factory, this was regular practice. It happened to everyone working there at least once and it always came out of our tips.
Managers made us think they were being nice by discounting a few items.

True but you think a waiter has the salary to pursue legal action That’s the reason they get away with it We all know it’s wrong but can’t afford to hold them accountable Even if you manage to sue them in court Their gonna be on your ass and fire you for anything so it makes no sense

Owners do all the time. Complain, get fired. They say it's so you don't let your 6 friends come eat free then leave.

100% true.
