In instances when the metal shaper would like to save some time in making structural or inner panels so he can focus his time and expertise on the more important parts of the build., this is a new option to do so. We’re excited to help introduce the latest advancement in metal shaping. CNC metal shaping will be available as a service to order without the need for expensive equipment or tooling. Stamping dies don’t always fit into a budget and this system can offer Repeatability with accuracy. With capabilities of 16” of draw in depth, 10 gage aluminum and 14 gage steel. Amazing finishes and accuracy in a fraction of the time that hand shaping has taken. Shaping time on that Tucker Carioca nose cone was 32 minutes. (This part even has a gentle reverse curve detail in its shape). Of course this isn’t the end all in metal shaping, there will still be the need for talented people to finish the parts, edges, welding etc., while this process will not replace talented metal shapers and may not shape every piece of a car, this could save many hours of fabrication time and be a resource to aid the metal shaper in a fabrication project making the job easier and more efficient. I think more people will need to learn metal shaping techniques to help support this new resource. This method uses stretch only, so if material thickness become too thin, you can use strategies to make the part and stay within the thickness requirements. Parts that aren’t necessarily a part you’d make on an English wheel or power hammer could be made using this method. Think character lines, window surrounds, transitioning detail features, brightwork, trim, door jambs, chassis,engine tins, valve covers, oil pans, windshield trim, hub caps..
