Taxation is not theft you all sound insane. Go read about how Alex smith envisioned the free market or what Jefferson wrote in the federalist papers. Good lord this country is selfish.

No one is talking about the $20 tip on a $30 tab? Taxation or not that’s a killer tip

I was just back in Europe for the weekend and the only person that tipped for that four hours I was at a bar sitting next to the credit card machine was this nice Canadian guy who smiled and said oh well i know I’m dumb for tipping for no reason but it’s a habit and im a Canadian and I know I’m ruining for everyone just like Americans. It was refreshing not to tip. Ffs, let’s get rid of this shitty practice.

If you want to take this to the next level, leave a super small tip on your credit card too. What happens is they will use the credit card tips to calculate the average tip to then tax the employee and it will lower their average.

But it won’t matter. Servers who work in a restaurant have to claim ~8% of their sales. This means, if you don’t tip them, they have to tell the government that you tipped them at least 8% and pay taxes on it regardless. Skipping a tip for a server at a full sit down restaurant actually forces them to pay money for you to eat. (Please note: this is not the same for fast food places and coffee shops)

Is that 14000 in total gifts or not exceeding 14000 in gifts to any one person?

They tipped $20 on a $29 check?
