Nice! That looks like a pretty complex glue-up with hide glue! When I’m doing a complicated glue-up I find it really helps to have the whole shop warm (like 90° if you can) and I pre-warm the pieces with a hair drier on high or a heat gun on low. Every little bit helps! It also depends a lot on the working time the hide glue you’re using will give you. What’s the gram strength?
Tip for squaring: take both measurements, clamp the longer one, squeeze until the measurement is the average of the two lengths, then double check the short one. It should now be the same.
Glue ups still looks stressful with hide glue haha. To clean up squeeze out do you use water?
What’s so special about it?
Wondering if hide glue rejects stain and finishing like regular pva glue.
I love working with hide glue. I almost use it exclusively in the meantime. It holds just as good as conventional glue and it's great to repair cracks because you can just make it a bit thinner and it gets into the tightest areas.
Looking forward to this one.
As yes, my favorite game, “Hide and go glue up” 😁

It tends to be more forgiving if you don’t get all of it cleaned up.
