When you buy the base radio this is what you get. The locations are there when you buy the higher package. And you can retrofit it in if you want. Providing the locations is making it easier and cheaper to make parts, since you not producing 12 different parts when you can produce only 1
So in other words you didn't pay for the upgraded audio package when you bought the car they don't make places for stuff if there isn't an option or trim level that uses them
You got pay for the Better sounds system ... It's a option. Not all people like to listen to music

Back in the day I was working at Best Buy, and we had a car audio department. I used my employee discount to get two 10" Rockford P2 subs installed in the trunk of my '99 Chevy Malibu. 100% would do it again. I had Clarion stereo, but I didn't upgrade any of the car's OEM speakers. Some good equalizer settings helped a little.
I have 11 speakers in my BMW M Sport stock and it sounds like a club without that stupid car vibration bullshit.
