    It comes from the West Indies, which was a thing. Because Columbus was searching for a new route to the Indies.

    And the Spanish called them Las Indígenas separately. Which means the indigenous not the children of god.

    India was called India during British rule. But they ruled it from mid 1700s to 1950. But he is right otherwise. Plus before it was called Hindustan and/or Bharat
