Actually apart from using commercial add-ons for Blender, for extracting 3d depth from flat images, you can use Stable Diffusion with the Depth Map script installed.
p.s. Then simply displace the hell out of it in Blender to create intricate bas-reliefs, sculpted patterns and what not.

Okay, serious question. I've seen, used, and installed these depth map generators and the results appear to lose a lot of detail but do capture the essence. But whenever I use a program to take the depth map and turn it into a 3D model it loses all the details and comes out a little bit lumpy. HuggingFace has been wonderful but it appears Blender has given you better results. But my question is, is Blender really capturing all that detail in the 3rd dimension or does it only appear that way because of the overlaid image on top of a rough model?
minds would have been blown if this was available 10 years ago when we were creating all the maps with Crazy Bump

Wow! So, i can now 3d print or CNC out all of Beluru & Halebidu (places where those sculptures in your video are from) 😉
To do it locally, download comfyUI, download depthanythingV2, it automatically downloads the ai model, you can set it for a folder and have as many images as you want with a single click. ComfyUI is the way to go for digital artists, pipelines you can create is perfect for product backgrounds as well.
In photoshop you can do the same. And faster
“Will my Asus A17 be able to handle this calculation?
Is stable diffusion free?
Now let's make a displace modifier that generates geometry where nessecary. This subdivide all is so 2010
🔥🔥🔥
We can do this directly with substance designer 🥀
Actually, no. It doesn't bring out all the high pass details unfortunately. You will still have to sculpt those.
How to add textures to it ?
Really great 👍
Just take and start 3D printing it 🙌🙌👍👍
