Under a recreational finance company from 1999 until 2006. I sold in 2006. I see the fraud that was happening. There were so many title agents that ended up going to jail they were shocked as they were being arrested. I had an advantage, though my partner work for Arthur Henderson before they went out of business, so one of the first things that we did is put certain protections in place that weren’t required by banks we would do additional work to make sure that the buyer and the seller legitimate . In many cases, even though loans were approved, we would reject the deal, even though it cost us quite a bit. I sold my half of the company to him in 2006 after he rejected an offer from a competitor. I begged him to sell. I told him that the market is going to collapse, but he didn’t believe me. I remember him calling me to tell me that we were being audited like every other small finance company in the country. The auditors told us that they hadn’t seen a single company that had their own fraud protections in place beyond what the bank required. Maybe if other companies had acted like ours we wouldn’t have had a financial crisis we did. Unfortunately, by 2010 the company is bankrupt like every other company fortunately for me, unfortunately my partner took the extra precautions to make sure that we never did anything that we would regret.
