It’s almost like the Bible has sociological context and can be incorrectly interpreted over time

Read the verses that immediately follow in Matthew. “You have been told to love you friends and hate your enemies, I say to love your enemies and do good to those who do you harm”

Wasn't convinced and looked up "turning the other cheek." Seems it really means when someone did that, it is a demand for justice and respect. I haven't looked up the others. Interesting. It is important for sure to read ancient texts from their culture, time, and perspective...not from ours or from people's agendas.

Bible scholar here. This is a common, but misleading interpretation. There is some cultural subversion, but after this Jesus says if you want to be perfect you have to love your enemy. It’s not about subverting injustice, it’s about loving your enemy. Context matters for cultural interpretation.

Hmmm 🤔”Exposing Injustice?” You mean kind of like that scripture that reads “ have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” Ephesians 5:11

Do you have sources for this?

I don’t agree with this, Goes against the nature of Jesus, and the second law he gave us to live by. Love your Neighbor as yourself. And to repay evil with good, and not fight back for the battle is not ours but it is the Lords. - Luke 6:27–28 – “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.”

Heck yeah, this is all from Walter Wink’s book, Jesus and No violence. It’s short and powerful and worth a read
