I called my insurance company and had the name on the insurance changed to reflect the name of the trust. Was advised to do this by an estate attorney.

Good info, but a bit misleading. Putting a home in a trust doesn’t void coverage. Insurance companies deal with trusts every day, and as long as the homeowner and the trust are connected, claims are still paid. You just need to list the trust on the policy to keep everything clean. I’ve been an insurance agent for 40 years. 👍

I’m sure the company will stop taking premiums if they can’t cover you right 🙄😅

This is exactly what I did with my home.

I am looking for homeowners insurance and I forgot about this. Thanks for the reminder

Your header is misleading. Simply provide accurate and complete information when signing up for the insurance and you’ll be fine. Who wouldn’t list the trust? I would suggest failing to properly list the trust would be a problem for the agent and their personal professional liability insurance.

This is why you use an attorney to create a trust, not get one through the web.
@karabinoscarolyn2025-10-14
Does this cost more to insure or name the trust
@eagles19892025-10-14
Yeah I got caught in this.

Not if the said insurance company doesn’t agree or accept a trust being owner of a home.

A lawyer explains all of this when you make a Trust also they usually will inform the company of the change for you, this video was not necessary
