If your resin REFUSES to flow into your silicone mold… this trick might save your entire project. I almost had to redesign my mold from scratch until I tried injecting the resin with a syringe. Clean fills, more control, total life saver.

The most affordable plastic injection machine on the market! I've been using syringes for filling molds for years.
Fill ports and vents are one of the most misunderstood parts of mold making. You can also get great fill performance from a tall, cone-funnel since it provides head-pressure thanks to gravity. We have quite a few of these types of molding and casting tips covered in our intro tutorials on YT. 👍
Robert has taught us all so much
I am taking notes… 📝
You should buy some isopropyl alcohol and clean the syringe before the resin cures. Less waste that way. You could reuse the iso too
Thank you for the tip! After learning this I am following. I have had a lot of castings fail because of air bubbles. This should minimize them.
Home ive been contemplating this as a solution to my problem filling a very tiny mold and havent had the chance to test yet. I specifically wanted it to be reusable. This is so exciting, thanks for testing it and sharing!!!
Thanks a lot for the trick !
Is "the silicone store" Reynolds Advanced Materials? Lol
Robert is also my goto guy when it comes to mold making and resin casting. What a great guy he is and fun too 👍🏻
awesome! i love this! smaller pour spouts! I love that!
Ever look into spincasting with silicone molds?
I made a mold of a handled coffee cup and had plans to fill it the same way but my syringes were too small, so I learned a lesson here instead of giving up. Are you aware of a resin that will withstand temps up to about 200F? I did the cup in epoxy and it gets soft when hot coffee is poured into it.
Saving this. Great tip.
Thinner resin can help a ton too! I use smooth on 326! I highly recommend it for fast cure times. Plus its glass clear and you can color match or do cool transparent effects!
