you don’t have to use the at&t fiber router if you don’t want to. you can flash a sfp fiber receiver with special firmware to bypass the at&t ONT. #learnontiktok #tiktoklearningcampaign

It's 2026 and in Italy we can use whatever we want as modem and ISPs are forced by law to give us their configurations.

"I can use this SFP+ transceiver" - precedes to show UCG-ultra, a device without SFP+.

@goatsinapond I DESPERATELY NEED more information on this.

They about to find a reason to stop this

Can't you just put the AT&t router in bridge mode and plug into your own network and configure everything from there without going through the hassle of an SFP router and firmware etc etc?

I'm failing to see the point of your post. I just put the AT&T router in passthrough mode. It was three steps and no tricks involved.

Other than bulk I'm not sure what I gain. I run passthrough and use unifi fiber gateway to route my home APs then to other switches. I get my full gig up and down and run 2.5g networking to half the house. Other than control which I don't need that level of, what else is there?

I just use a double NAT. It makes port forwarding a pain, but it works

I am hoping people are aware of if you do something like that you better have some good security (firewall/ids/ips,etc). Also, yeah ATT security for home network is not great either but if something happens its easier to blame and hold them accountable. 🤷🏽♂️ All I am saying, just be mindful of territory you are going into lol

First of all that is not the ONT, that is their router. The ONT is the box that is mounted to a wall in your house where their fiber connection comes into your house from the street. You can simply plug a Ethernet cable from the ONT into your own router and it will work. You will also get a discount from your isp for not having to rent their router anymore.

Can u send me info on config and parts I need for my udm-se-poe

my ISP has me stuck with coaxial. I want it out! can't they still sniff the traffic ? do I still have portal access to the configuration on my firewall or is it now custom with the SFP?
@mrsimonweekes2026-04-18
In the UK we can use whatever router we like. What’s up with the US?!
@gautama.j2026-04-17
Is there a way to see all traffic leaving your router and where it goes? I'm curious if routers tend to "phone home" with your data so they can sell it or not

Just put the AT&T modem in bridge mode? We don't have AT&T here in New York but that's how every other ISP operates...
