A quick demo of @jobyaviation’s awesome JAS4-1 departing and returning to Kennedy on a test flight!
Joby Aviation will be performing a series of flights around the NYC area this week, subject to weather.
Awesome to see in person!

Can it run on a missing prop?
So many comments from people terrified of anything different.
I’m surprised by some of the comments. Helicopters are extremely expensive to run & maintain. A lot of these VTOLs have redundancy & ballistic parachutes if goes pear shaped. They quit possible are the future for short hall flights over helicopters. Some of the VTOLs are getting quite efficient on distance time & speed.
Joby S4 eVTOL urban air taxi. Runs on lithium ion batteries, electric motors. Partnering with Delta Air Lines. Very low noise 65dB near 45db in flight.
Why would anyone want this over a helicopter? This just seems super convoluted and unnecessary. Anyone who's able to afford one of these, would just be able to afford a helicopter and an airplane, and both would be much safer than this thing.
As dope as that is, it has several motors to deal with in terms of maintenance. What if one fails, can the others bring you back down to safety?
So it’s a helicopter with four blades then?
Wow , nice ! What is it for?
I flow in this aircraft in Microsoft flight simulator 2024 I love it the cooling machine 👏 took a while to figure it out, but I got the hang of it
As an aircraft mechanic/engineer I like this design. It gives off V-22 Osprey vibes. First electric design I see feasible for short commutes. I’d like to see a fail safe system in the design. Such as a parachute and auto pilot landing should the pilot become incapacitated.
Sorry, I’m not able to identify…No pilot on bord ? Full autonomous flight ?
Tell me what happens when one rotor fails?
What is the improvement vs a helicopter? This thing has 5 engines/propellers which means more parts to maintain and also to fail.
Where can I buy it?
What's the range
