The “Happy Car” — also called a Rolling Car — is a two-seat electric ride sold on Alibaba for around $3,000. Shaped like a giant barrel, it rolls on two large outer wheels while the passenger capsule inside is free to spin, meaning riders can go fully upside down if the vehicle accelerates or brakes hard enough. It runs on a pair of 300-watt electric motors with a 48-volt battery, and holds up to two riders as long as neither is taller than 6’1”.
Originally designed for amusement parks, carnivals, and shopping malls, the ride has gained viral attention as people take it onto regular streets and neighborhood roads. The colorful LED lights and programmable sounds make it hard to miss, and the uncontrollable spinning means even experienced riders get tossed around. There is an emergency stop, but by the time most riders find it, the damage — or the laughter — is already done.
The vehicle is built with a steel frame, comes in multiple colors, and is CE certified for safety in commercial settings. Whether it belongs on a public street is a different question entirely — but that hasn’t stopped people from finding out the hard way.
