The clients had a request. The space had other plans.
So we got creative and what came out of it is one of those details you'd never notice unless you knew to look for it.
This is the part of custom home building nobody talks about - the hundred small decisions that never make it into the final photos but make the home work exactly the way it should.
Watch till the end.

It's a nice code violation..... Stairs have to be stationary can't be more than 7 and 3/4 in height or less than 4 in. And you cannot have anything in the way of the door like a lever.
Genuine question, how did this flaw make it past the design phase?
So what happens when the car is in the garage? Then what?
this is something you talk your client out of. What did you charge?
So you can only use the step when the vehicle isn’t parked in the garage. Think about those logistics for a minute.
Neat but probably not code in Taxachusetts
There car will hit the step when they forget to put it back
How they get back inside the house if the car is blocking the step and the door
I bet you 100 bucks somebody bites it in the first week
Build this, then call our lawyer. You'll need her.
What happens when the car is in the garage?
Make the garage bigger…
This is a “Custom Home”? 😂😂😂
You have cabinet slide on steps 😂😂
None of the stated objections bothers me--or the owners and inspectors, apparently. But l hope those drawer slides aren't bearing all the weight of the users ? Non-swiveling casters riding on the floor would be my preference ...
