Get ready for a bold twist on a classic—Freezer Door Old Fashioned. 🥃🙌
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups turbinado sugar
1 cup water
1 cinnamon stick (optional)
1 (750 ml) bottle bourbon or rye whiskey
1 ounce angostura bitters
Orange peel and cherries for serving
Directions:
Combine sugar, water and cinnamon stick (if using) in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring often until sugar completely dissolves. Let cool completely.
Pour a half cup of bourbon from the bottle and reserve for another use.
Pour 3 ounces of the prepared simple syrup into the bottle and reserve remaining syrup for another use.
Add bitters to the bottle and place the top on the bottle. Gently tip the bottle over to mix the ingredients and place the bottle in the freezer for at least 6 hours.
To serve: pour 2-3 ounces over ice. Add an orange peel and cherry and stir. Allow the ice to slightly mellow and dilute the cocktail.

No, never a maraschino cherry!!!! Luxardo only !!!
I made this and it was fantastic!!! I may not add as much sugar in my simple syrup next time though. I may reduce it to only a cup of sugar. The cinnamon stick was a great addition too!
I can dig it. Little less sugar and I infuse my simple syrup with orange peel and cinnamon stick
Let’s add tons of sugar so I can say I drink whisky
That’s a Cold Fashioned
Great recipe!!! Because I’m Canadian, I’d use organic, 100% maple syrup in the place of sugar/water. Definitely still add the cinnamon stick!
Needs some dilution. Add water to the mix.
We use maple syrup instead of sugar water. Try it.
How long do these freezer cocktails last in freezer???
🇬🇧please DO NOT do this with anything distilled in Scotland 🏴, specifically Speyside
Wheres the bitters? N middle that cherry n 🍊
Never understood why people put their whiskey in a freezer. Cold mutes the flavor of the whiskey.
Slight problem… thats a rye whiskey
Could I just drop a few orange peels and cherries in the jar to freeze with it. I don’t always have a fresh orange!
Bulleit Bourbon makes a premade bottled Old Fashioned that is delicious and way easier that doing this.
