Someone just open sourced the software that lets you see through walls and all it needs is a nine dollar chip and your WiFi signal
Meet RuView a project that shot to number one on GitHub built on WiFi DensePose research from Carnegie Mellon University using cheap sensor hardware to read the way your body distorts WiFi signals as they bounce around a room
And thats where a nine dollar chip turned into a radar system Every WiFi signal in your house already bounces off your body constantly and because humans are mostly water those signals change in tiny measurable ways every time you move RuView captures that using something called Channel State Information and feeds it into AI models that translate it into real-time tracking of exactly where you are standing and what you are doing no cameras no video nothing visual at all
Heres where it gets insane The system does not stop at tracking movement It can isolate the rhythmic motion of your chest to read your breathing rate and track your heart rate from another room entirely through solid walls
But the craziest part This could genuinely help with elderly care and search and rescue It could also mean someone maps your exact movements inside your own home without a single camera or you ever knowing it happened

I feel this is also kinda terrifying. You can be fully monitored by every single device in your house if equipped. An apartment can track you from other rooms. How long till insurance companies change your rates based on how responsibly you move around your house.

The FBI has been using this for about a decade, and there have been DIY models popping up for about 3 years now. This one does look a little easier to setup for the typical layperson though, I might finally try it out and hook it up to Home Assistant.

so this is kinda how radar works sooooo except it just uses wifi signals as the radar thingymabob
It can also be used to see if anyone is in your home befor they break in or know where you are if they want to attack you.

There is a series in india Pritam pedro recently came/prompted with the same concept and people are now trying to do same !!!! (hence came to no 1)
The same technology is used by IDF against people in Gaza to identify where people are inside rubble
The composition of 10 soldiers IDF per group some of them walks with a long antenna in the bags just using this technology radar

@arigato.miku it can be both. The mass surveillance tech that flock employes is hella cool too, but it is still a major privacy violation. I think the same goes for this. I do wonder if it's possible to have counter-tech, like acoustic jamming, to effectively shield yourself.
