NightLase is an Er:YAG laser treatment being marketed for both snoring and sleep apnea. I went through the clinical evidence so you don’t have to.
HOW IT WORKSThe laser heats the soft palate — the floppy tissue at the back of your throat — to around 50–65°C. This triggers your body’s own collagen-tightening response. The tissue firms up, vibrates less, and snoring reduces. Three sessions, roughly 15 minutes each, no anesthesia.
FOR SNORING — the evidence is real. The only randomized controlled trial (Picavet et al., 2023) enrolled 40 patients and found snoring scores nearly halved in the NightLase group versus no change in the sham group. A meta-analysis of 7 studies and 247 patients (Neruntarat et al., 2020) confirmed significant snoring reduction with 80% patient satisfaction.
FOR SLEEP APNEA — the answer is no.Across every major meta-analysis, NightLase does not significantly improve the AHI (apnea-hypopnea index) — the actual clinical measure of how many times you stop breathing at night. Snoring and sleep apnea are different problems. A laser that firms your soft palate does not fix the airway collapse that drives obstructive sleep apnea.

THE VERDICTSnoring — reasonable, well-tolerated option for the right candidate.Sleep apnea — this is not your treatment. The first step is always a proper sleep evaluation. Know your diagnosis before choosing your treatment.

Is there any data on how this affects singers and their sound/resonance and technique?
I had the Pillar procedure done many years ago with the same promise. It didn’t work and I remains skeptical of this.
Stupid question: would you get similar results by drinking hot liquids every day?
