How much hp gains can I expect in a NA 1.8 Miata?

Any idea if it would separate SLS Nylon Powder?

You should design one for sandblasting cabinet dust extraction

How do you achieve that surface finish in a FDM?

  • @francesco_axel 2026-07-15

Looks like you could use something that also in the exhaust systems of thermal engine vehicles

This looks really cool, but you will still need a filter for the fine dust particles. A lot of people don,t realise that the Dyson cyclone vacuum cleaners still need a fine filter at the final exit point. Once the final filter starts to block up it reduced the air flow in the whole system, so the larger the surface for the fine filter the better. The sharp 90 degree bend that cyclonic filters have is to introduce the tangential air flow so that the larger particles get flung to the outside of the canister and fall to the bottom. It would be good to see your design working with some saw dust in. It looks good but I think it still needs a filter for the fine particles, look up Hepa filters.

Meanwhile my grandad just screwed a piece of wood in the top half of a bucket as a divider, put a lid on it, unless one side of the wood dividing wall, outlet in the other side. All the chunks ended up in the bottom of the bucket, the outlet went to another bucket with a fly mesh lid to keep the finer dust.

Love it but I am 100% certain you don’t have laminar flow anywhere in those pipes.

I'd be interested in the files if thats ever an option.

yo i wonder if this could apply to tech to keep dust out of computers n shi

What is the purpose of the saw dust separation, like why is it needed?

  • @rolandicius 2026-07-15

The first deflector function still not clear to me

I expect PETG would be better than PET; less brittle if you get some largish chunks hitting the walls. I would also use PETG in lieu of the PLA to for the same reason. You could even make the clear section from clear PETG, and integrate the vanes into the same part which I expect would strengthen the vanes outer edges; aesthetically the clear acrylic looks great, but after a few months of solid use, I expect it will will get cloudy from debris impact anyway. Nice work

why dual and not one or three or some other number?
