there’s a perfectly good tree to rig off of if you need actual control of the travel, this showy stuff always comes back to bite you later where a traditional notch would’ve sufficed, flange your sizwell so the trunk pivots on the fulcrum point without travel, that’s how you do this cut. Try it on a side leaning tree and watch it crumple

Actually - to do this perfectly, you need to make the first cut different: upper cut horizontal(!) and second cut from below, so your notch direct more to the ground. Reason: the tree will be directed for a longer duration. BUT: As every expert would say: Too much work for such a tree. If you want to go save, I always use a motor winch: quick, strong and save ;-)
