"Unlike stronger germicidal solutions that contain carbolic acid or iodine, Dakin does not damage living cells or lose potency in the presence of blood serum. It has a solvent action on dead cells that hastens the separation of dead tissue from living tissue. Sodium hypochlorite solution must be buffered before use. The most commonly used substances are boric acid and sodium bicarbonate." - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK507916/

This is what the doctor told me to use to wipe my arms down with a few years ago after some nasty dog bites. 👍

I’m going to mention this to my Navy medic buddy. That seems very familiar like I had heard it years ago.

This is a case of you have nothing else to use. Dakins is rarely used anymore for wound care.

That’s 1/4 Strength Dakin’s, but we usually don’t use baking soda we just do bleach. https://health.choc.org/handout/how-to-make-dakins-solution/
