If you have ever wondered how they compress those plates onto your trusses then here is your answer. And yes… it’s heavy.

This isn't how its originally done. They do this when a bottom or top cord breaks on the truss and needs to be replaced. They are originally pressed my a machine called a Gantry.

Nah, this isn't it. I worked for a trusses company. We used a steel table with screws that could set your jig based on your trusses shape and size. We lay out all precut boards and the appropriate plates at each joint. The jig table has a built on hydrologic press that you stand on and ride with a joystick that has a button you press that compresses the plate into the truss wood. Never seen this before. Cool though.

We stamp them long before they go in a house. This is a fix or something. We use a big machine press for our trusses. I know because I cut them.

I build trusses for 84 lumber they only need that when someone fucks up at the shop..thankfully bc it’s no joke like 150-200 lbs
