Would it be true for Spanish? Goodbye in spanish is “Adios”.
    God in Spanish is “Dios”
    So “Adios —> A Dios”
    Which means “to God”
As in go to God; connotation: “be with God” or in that case “God be with you”
If that is true… that’s an amazing coincidence.

In french “Adieu” means “ to God “

It's interesting how many languages have God in goodbye.

    God in Portuguese is “Deus”

“Goodbye” In portuguese we say “adeus”

    a-Deus = to God

The older/formal goodbye in Swedish is the word ”adjö” which comes from French adieu meaning “à Dieu” ”to God” so originally it meant “I entrust you to God” 😊🙏🏻
