In a heated back‑and‑forth, President Donald Trump erupted at moderator Kristen Welker over California’s ongoing vote count, accusing state officials — and Welker herself — of corruption.
Trump charged in immediately: “They’re crooked just like you’re crooked! You’re either crooked or you’re stupid. You know these elections are rigged.”
He argued that California’s slow tallying was proof of misconduct, saying, “They’re dropping fast because it’s a rigged election. It’s days and they aren’t even close. They’re cheating on the election.”
Welker pressed him: “Do you have evidence?”
Trump responded, “You just have to look! Do you think it’s appropriate they have an election, five days plus, and they’re nowhere close?”
When Welker suggested the process was simply slow, Trump snapped back:
“No, they’re crooked! Just like you’re crooked, the press is crooked, and Meet the Press is crooked.”
He continued escalating, telling Welker, “You play right into their hands with this. You know these elections are rigged. Your network knows they’re rigged. You know that I won an election in a landslide. And I got 94% bad press because you have no credibility.”
Welker attempted to regain control of the interview as Trump continued his accusations.
