    They could be more decorative or at least OFFER a decorative one as an option. I actually had mine custom made as well as my return vent

    I just finished a build where linear mud in vents were used. A word of caution for builders considering using them. The interior and exterior of the metal flange must be wrapped with insulation/felt/ tape. If the metal flange piece gets too cold up against the drywall finish condensation will happen. Mine did not have a finish trim, just a straight finished drywall edge. Looked great but I am sure a trim piece would help diffuse the air at a slower rate and cut down on the condensation. I had to fast track the learning curve on HVAC issues and home insulation venting after installing linear vents.
